So still...

You’re as beautiful as ever, lying on that cold metal slab.

Pale skin, your eyes closed. Those bright blue eyes, they used to be mine.

All of you used to be mine.

The morgue attendant stands back respectfully, giving me a moment of privacy with your body. He looks just the right amount of solemn and professional. All polite courtesy.

I know better though. If I were to fully lift this sheet, I’d see a drop of his cum, slowly dripping down your thigh. If I were to sniff your neck, I’d smell his cheap cologne on you and I’d find your skin just a bit raw from his five o’ clock shadow.

Nothing a little make-up won’t fix.

I nod to him.

“That’s her”.

He pulls the sheet back over your head, hiding that lovely face from view again.

That lovely smile. You were so beautiful. So sweet.

Right until you betrayed me.

I pass a middle-aged man in a white coat over a cheap suit. The coroner, here for the autopsy.

They won’t find what killed you, because you’re not actually dead yet. The poison cost me a small fortune, but it was worth every penny.

Right now, you’re still awake under that sheet, screaming internally, aware of everything that’s happening, yet unable to move.

You’ll be gone before the night is out, the coroner will see to that.

Goodbye my love, I hope it was worth it.
